Welcome to Healthy From Day 1! I’m Justin Valley, and I’m so happy you’ve found your way to this site. The intention of this website is to empower families to make the healthiest decisions possible.

Healthy home environments have been a way of life for me for as long as I can remember. My father, Frank Valley, was diagnosed with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity after years of exposure to chemicals while he owned and operated a sign company. The manufacturing, painting, and welding of electric signs increased his sensitivities in the workplace. Unexplained headaches and fogginess led him down a path of research and exploration of chemical sensitivities.

What started as research to improve his own quality of life became a passion. Frank studied extensively both at the Institute for Bau-Biologie & Ecology and independently to develop his expertise in creating healthy home environments. He has since conducted in home consultations, making recommendations to others affected by chemical sensitivities.

It’s no wonder phrases like “Indoor Air Quality” and “Electro-Magnetic Radiation” have been in my vocabulary since childhood, and that the study of healthy home environments has become a passion for me as well. I had an “A-HA! moment” upon the realization that a very large portion of the population may not be aware of the huge impact that items brought into their home can have on their family’s health. Even more striking to me, after a bit of research, was how sensitive pregnant mothers and new babies are to toxins in their environments. The effects can truly last a lifetime.

As a technical writer and software training professional, I have made a living taking technical information and distilling it into the most usable form for my audience. My intentions are to take what can be heavily technical information and put it in a form that will enable families to make easy, yet impactful, changes in their homes.

Healthy From Day 1 has been around since 2007, and began as a store which carried health conscious products. It has since evolved into an educational tool that can be used to implement real change in your household and in your family’s quality of life. This evolution has taken me across the globe, from touring a healthy bed manufacturing plant in Austria to talks with organic cotton textile manufacturers in India. I’m here to share what I’ve learned with you.
